Therapy FAQs
Starting therapy is a big decision and it often comes with a lot of questions. My goal is to make this process feel as clear and stress-free as possible because no one needs more anxiety in their life. Below are some of the most common questions I hear from people getting ready to start therapy.
If you’re looking for a therapist who’s warm, direct, and ready to go deeper than surface-level coping skills, we’ll probably be a great match. I work best with women who are done pushing through and want to explore the patterns behind their anxiety, people-pleasing, relationship struggles, and emotional exhaustion. This work is honest, collaborative, and focused on real change. You can learn more about my background and approach on my About page, or dive into my Specialties page for more details.
You don’t need a single traumatic event to benefit from trauma therapy. Trauma isn’t only about what happened. It’s about how your nervous system learned to survive.
Growing up with emotional inconsistency, criticism, walking on eggshells, being the “strong one,” or never feeling fully chosen can leave deep imprints. Trauma therapy helps us understand how those experiences shaped your anxiety, self-doubt, overthinking, people-pleasing, or body responses. It’s about creating lasting change, not reliving the past.
Sessions are conversational, grounded, and paced intentionally. We’ll talk, notice patterns, explore emotional or body responses, and gently work toward deeper understanding and regulation. Trauma therapy does not mean reliving every painful memory. We move at a pace that feels safe and collaborative.
I am also trained in multiple trauma therapies that we can use in session, including EMDR.
Therapy sessions are $150 each. Since I’m a private pay practice, we can work at your pace without insurance restrictions or third-party involvement. Payment is due at the time of your session, and I can provide superbills if you’d like to seek reimbursement through out-of-network benefits.
I’m a private pay practice, which means we have the freedom to work at your pace without a third party shaping your treatment. If you’d like to seek reimbursement through out-of-network benefits, I can provide superbills for you.
I primarily use EMDR, CPT, somatic therapy, and trauma-informed talk therapy. You don’t need to know anything about these modalities ahead of time. I’ll explain what we’re doing and why, and we’ll choose approaches that feel supportive and manageable for your nervous system.
Most clients start with weekly sessions to build momentum and safety. As therapy progresses, some shift to biweekly sessions. We’ll decide together based on your needs, capacity, and goals. Timelines vary—some clients notice changes in a few months, while others prefer longer-term work for stability and support. You set the pace, and I follow your nervous system, not a clock.
Both! My in-person space is located in Dallas and I can see virtual clients from anywhere in Texas. Some people love the structure of coming into the office. Others prefer the comfort of working from home. We can talk about what works best for you.
I’m not able to offer emergency support or crisis intervention. If you’re in immediate danger or need urgent help, please call 988, visit your nearest ER, or reach out to your local crisis hotline. You’re not alone, and there are people ready to help.
